'A 23-stone man stomped, punched and choked me... I'm terrified if he is let out of prison he will find me'

After being stamped on, punched, choked and humiliated by a 23-stone attacker, the victim of Thomas Parry's rage and violence said he gave her a chilling warning. Now, she's terrified that if he is let out of prison, he will come and find her.

He told her things could "get worse, I can get way way way worse" adding "I can do what I f****** want, who’s going to stop me, f*** you."

The victim, who can not be named for legal reasons, said her experience at the hands of Parry had changed her life forever. "I jump at loud noises, shouting and I'm scared to say the wrong thing," she said.

"I feel isolated and completely worthless. I don’t recognise myself anymore..... I don’t think I will ever get the old (me) back fully but I am going to spend the rest of my life trying.... I feel broken and worthless. I don’t know what many people are capable of.

"I felt physically and emotionally powerless and I thought the only way out was death.... (I felt) depressed and felt I didn’t want to be here any more.... I am terrified if he is let out of prison he will come find me."

Thomas Parry, 29, of Port Talbot, carried out horrific attacks on his victim who a court heard was left "crying hysterically" and feeling like he was "genuinely going to kill her." She described her injuries as if they had been caused by a "car crash", and she took several photographs of her bruises which show them covering her body.

When the victim attended a police station to report what had happened, she was described as "upset, crying, shaking, distressed, emotionally exhausted, physically drained" and with visible injuries.

She had heavy bruises to her left arm, bruises to both eyes, and the bridge of her nose. She was in severe pain and struggled walking," reports WalesOnline.

Parry was said to have smashed up her belongings and shoved a sanitary towel in her mouth. He also used his two hands and began to choke her around her neck, squeezing hard.

The victim said he was shaking in anger, growling and spitting in her face. He seemed like a different person, she said. She couldn’t breathe, everything was fast and she started to black out. He grabbed hold of her hair and began to bang her head up and down.

She felt force to the side of her face and believed he may have used his palm on her face. She felt something warm running down the side of her face and realised she was bleeding from the nose.

Whilst being choked she genuinely thought he was going to kill her. There was bruising and swelling to her eyebrows.

Parry was said to have side swept the victim's leg from underneath her, causing her to fall to the floor. He came over to her and spat on her, before stamping on her repeatedly with shoes on. The stamps were continuous and all over her body.

The left side of her body took the brunt of the assault. He told her subsequently that he was also punching her. She tried to roll into a ball and sustained injuries to her arms.

He then poured talcum powder on pillows and emptied the whole tin on her and a bottle of fruit juice. She said she was in agony and had never felt pain like it.

The attacker weighed more than 23-stone when he carried out the attack. As a result of the assault, the victim sustained extreme bruising to her left and right legs.

Her arms were covered in bruises and there was something that looked like a bite mark, but the victim was said to have been almost unconscious by the end of her ordeal.

Parry later apologised to the victim, blaming steroids for his behaviour, but he also delivered his warning about how much worse things could get and that she could not stop him. A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on March 3, heard the defendant, of Morrison Court, Sandfields, was arrested on August 26 last year and denied the offences, claiming the bruises were caused while restraining the victim, saying she was trying to cut herself with a razor blade.

He later pleaded guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The court heard he had 14 previous convictions for offences such as common assault.

In mitigation, defence barrister Georgina Buckley said her client was realistic about the sentence and was "extremely remorseful". She said: "There’s a different side to this man. He is capable of applying himself positively to society. He can be relied upon." She asked the court to pass the shortest sentence possible.

Sentencing, Judge David Wynn Morgan said: "You are described as being warm and kind, an honourable individual, a good human being, patient, thoughtful, respectful, kind and polite, caring and conscientious.

"The people who write those references are plainly speaking about somebody other than the person standing in the dock. The fact is you are a bully. Men who hit women are not just bullies, they are cowards and you are a coward."

Parry was sentenced to a total of four years imprisonment. He will serve half the sentence in custody and the remainder on licence.
