As Bari Weiss’ tenure as CBS News’ editor-in-chief continues, many are still sharing their thoughts on how she’s performed in the role thus far. Much has especially been said about the number of staffing changes Weiss has made, especially when it comes to 60 Minutes. Reports have suggested that, internally, employees have been less than pleased with Weiss and her decision to part ways with some company veterans. However, a source has since dropped claims about why some employees are fine with the personnel changes.
In late May 2026, Weiss fired 60 Minutes executive prod Tanya Simon and executive editor Draggan Mihailovich along with correspondents Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi. Longtime correspondent Scott Pelley was later fired as well after accusing Weiss of “murdering” the storied news magazine show. Several veteran producers also stepped away from the show, with one of them, Henry Schuster, even speaking out about his exit amid the “forced departures” of some of his former colleagues.
