50% surplus rain recorded in wettest week this monsoon

PUNE: India recorded its wettest week this monsoon, receiving 50% excess rainfall between July 7 and July 13. According to IMD data, this was the highest surplus since June 1 when the wet season began.

Surpluses were seen in the weeks ending June 22 (45%) and July 6 (28%), but nothing compared to the past seven days, when the country recorded 93.5mm rainfall. At least 42 districts received 300% more rainfall than normal for the period.
