5 winners from Day 1 at the Senior Bowl

The Senior Bowl has kicked off practices and there was a ton of action on the field in Mobile, Alabama. Here are the biggest winners from the first day of practice.

1. Boston College OG Zion Johnson

Despite never playing center before, Johnson took snaps at the position during Tuesday’s practice. He looked like the best offensive lineman there as he dominated every opponent that he faced. With tackle and guard experience, Johnson is one of the most versatile players in the draft. He should end up being a first-round selection by the time April rolls around.

2. Florida State DE Jermaine Johnson

Johnson transferred away from Georgia after getting lost in the shuffle and that move saved his career. He put on a show on Tuesday, winning in several different ways. But his length, power and athleticism will likely be what allows him to be picked in Round 1.

3. Georgia DT Devonte Wyatt

The defensive tackle class is not great in 2022, but Wyatt has a chance to be the first one drafted. He was nearly unblockable during the one-on-one and team drills on Tuesday, winning with both quickness and power.

4. South Alabama WR Jalen Tolbert

Tolbert was incredibly productive in South Alabama and continued to dominate in Mobile. He won a number of one-on-one reps, including scoring a long touchdown on his very first rep. Tolbert has solidified himself as the top receiver at the Senior Bowl.

5. Liberty QB Malik Willis

Accuracy was a bit of an issue for Willis during Tuesday’s practice, but he stood out for other reasons. He had the biggest arm and most velocity of any quarterback in Mobile as he could drive the ball through the wind. Teams looking for upside at quarterback will love all the tools that Willis has to offer.

If he can show more consistency and touch, Willis could easily be the first quarterback draft in April.
