5 things we spotted from Celtic training as Kyogo goes for a blue rinse before Rangers showdown

The Celtic squad were put through their paces as they prepare for a crunch Scottish Cup semi final with Rangers on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou hasn't ruled out Kyogo Furuhashi starting after the news broke that in-form striker Giorgos Giakoumakis will miss the Hampden showdown.

It would be unfair to say every training session wasn't competitive at Lennoxtown with Celtic still in the mix for yet another domestic Treble.

But there will be plenty players determined to make a case for a start in Mount Florida as the Parkhead club look to book a place in the final on May 21.

The stakes couldn't be higher with Celtic a potential five games away from another historic season but defeat could quickly derail that positivity.

Here's what Record Sport spotted from Friday's session.

Kyogo's blue rinse

Postecoglou has the big decision whether to give 16-goal hitman Kyogo a starting berth on Sunday.

The Japanese striker made his long awaited comeback as a second half substitute against St Johnstone last Saturday.

He looked energetic and raring to go - even spotting a new hairstyle in training, it's not quite Dame Edna but the peroxide look is now gone.

His last Celtic start was against St Johnstone on Boxing Day where he picked up that infamous hamstring injury.

Celtic supporters will definitely hope a blue rinse is incoming on the pitch.

Ange means business

The Celtic boss opted for the hands on approach on the training ground on Friday as he puts his stars through their paces.

Having a manager who's willing to be in the heart of things throughout the week can be seen as the catalyst to the turnaround in the Hoops fortunes.

The pressure is intense on the Australian but we've seen him relish the big games to far and the mantra of we never stop seems to be getting over to his players each week.

What next, Jota?

Jota was spotted at Anfield on Wednesday night as he cheered on his boyhood heroes and parent club Benfica against Liverpool.

He was raring to go at Lennoxtown as the Portuguese star and looked full of tricks in training as he continues to impress ahead of a potential long-term stay.

Jota is the type player who can turn a game in an instance and provide that all-important bit of quality in what could be a tight cup tie.

Leading by example

Hoops captain Callum McGregor has lead by example all season and would love nothing more than too make it a hat-trick of victories over Rangers and secure a final spot against Hearts or Hibs.

McGregor has become synonymous with a masked look since the turn of the year provides the leadership qualities needed on the training ground and on the pitch to get his managers methods over to the rest of the Celtic squad.

Games can be won and lost in midfield and the 28-year-old could end up in a right tussle with Scotland team mate Ryan Jack on Sunday.

Outside chance

For a player who has been plagued by injury setbacks in recent years, James Forrest is always in the mix when it comes to big occasions and will have been doing everything to catch his managers eye.

Postecoglou admitted the 30-year-old has put his injury problems behind him as he was tasked with getting that match sharpness back through a series of running.

Forrest could yet retire as the most decorated player the club has produced. He has 19 winners’ medals to date, which means the Scotland internationalist would require six more to level with Bobby Lennox, who tops Celtic’s list.

He often splits opinion among the support in terms of the creative output that he offers but could well play a big part at Hampden.
