49ers open practice window for three injured defensive players

After landing Chase Young in a blockbuster deal on trade deadline day, the San Francisco 49ers could welcome back some more reinforcements on the defensive side of the football.

Following their bye week, the 49ers opened the practice window for three players who were initially placed on the injured reserve. On Monday, the 49ers announced they have opened the practice window for rookie edge rusher Robert Beal Jr., and defensive backs Darrell Luter Jr. and Samuel Womack III. 

Robert Beal Jr. started his rookie season on the injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. Beal was drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft out of Georgia. Beal Jr. won two national championships with the Bulldogs.

Luter Jr. was placed on the physically unable to perform list beofre the start of training camp due to an bone bruise he suffered in the team’s offseason program. Luter Jr.was drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft out of South Alabama.

After playing in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Womack III suffered a knee injury in practice that landed him on the injured reserve.

Coming off the bye week, the 49ers will travel to meet the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10.
