A 44-year-old woman has died in hospital hours after she was found in a Sydney unit stairwell with burns to her body. Police have launched an investigation into how the incident occurred.
On Monday, at about 3.00pm, emergency services were called to a unit complex in Campsie, in Sydney’s south-west, after a woman was found in a stairwell with burns to her body.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene before taking her to Concord Hospital.
Hours later, at about 9.25pm, police were notified that the woman had died. The woman has yet to be formally identified.
Following the incident, officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command have established a crime scene and are now investigating how the incident occurred.
Police have also reported that no one else was injured in the incident.
