4-star flips from Georgia to SEC rival

The Georgia Bulldogs received some negative news on the recruiting front on Saturday morning. Four-star safety Rashad Johnson announced his decision to flip from the Bulldogs to the Texas A&M Aggies, giving Mike Elko a major 2025 recruiting win. Johnson had been committed to Georgia since June 14 of this year.

Johnson is listed at 6 feet, 2 inches and 200 pounds. He is the 24th-ranked safety in the nation and the 33rd overall player in the state of Florida. He plays at South Sumter High School, where he recorded 59 tackles, seven pass breakups and an interception a season ago. He caught nine passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns on the offensive side as a receiver. He competes in track and field in addition to football.

With Johnson’s commitment, Texas A&M now has 21 commits and has risen to the number eight ranking in the 2025 composite recruiting rankings according to 247Sports. This places the Aggies just ahead of Oklahoma and just behind their chief rival, the Texas Longhorns.

The Bulldogs are now down to 21 commits for the 2025 class, and are currently ranked fourth in the nation behind Ohio State, Alabama, and LSU. Four-star Jaylan Morgan is the lone true safety pledge in the class, though Todd Robinson is a four-star athlete who is projected by some to play the position for the Bulldogs.
