The Kentucky Archives Institute in Frankfort will hold its 37th annual get-together Friday, July 14. This year’s theme is African American genealogy, and four speakers are scheduled for the all-day event. Kim Brannock, with the state Education and Labor Cabinet, said presentations will include “how-to” tips and tricks for family researchers.
“You know, there's a lot of things that are problems that you can run into when you're doing your genealogy search. And that's even more so when it comes to people who are African American.”
According to a news release from the state Education and Labor Cabinet, the Kentucky Archives Institute provides information for scholars, archivists, librarians, general researchers and genealogists. Brannock said this year’s speakers are high-caliber – and will help others pursue their research.
“If they're really interested in this sort of thing, I think it's going to be something that will really help them to dig deeper into their history.”
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 50-dollar cost includes lunch and all materials. Registration ends Friday, July 7th.
