CONTENT WARNING: This article discusses alleged domestic violence.

Police have charged a 36-year-old man following their investigation into the death of a 28-year-old woman in Ipswich, Queensland.

On Monday morning, at about 9.15am, a woman was found dead after police conducted a welfare check at her Leichhardt home.

Following the tragic discovery, a man was arrested and charged with murder (domestic violence offence) and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

Per 9News, the man was reportedly not at the scene when Jensen’s body was located by authorities. It has been alleged that he led police “on a chase” until his vehicle came to a stop at Ipswich Boonah Road at Peak Crossing.

Detective Acting Superintendent Garry Watts said the pair were in a de facto relationship.

“No offences were detected, an investigation conducted but no action taken,” Watts said, per the publication.

“We are looking for a knife involved in this incident.

“Our hearts go out to all involved in this tragedy, especially the family of the victim.”

Watts also said that they would be “offering support” to the first responders who were alerted to the “very traumatic situation.”

“Everyone has a right to feel safe and live in a safe environment, and we urge anybody if they are suffering any types of domestic and family violence to reach out to the appropriate support agencies and request assistance,” Watts continued.

The superintendent also confirmed that police had visited the property days before she was found.

“I can tell you that the police had attended that address in the last week as a result of information received,” he said, per ABC News.

“However no offences were detected. An investigation was conducted but there was no action taken.”

The man’s vehicle was taken in for forensic examination. Police have also shared they’re searching for “any items of interest” at Wyaralong Dam, that may have been used in the alleged offence.

The man is expected to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on 16 July.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
