The State on Saturday logged 331 new COVID-19 cases, when 15,230 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The active cases has dropped below 3,000, and at present there are 2,836 patients with COVID-19 now in the State. A total of 472 persons were reported to have recovered from the disease. About 11% of the active cases are currently hospitalised.
The total number of patients admitted with moderate or severe COVID in hospitals across the State dropped to 206. New hospital admissions on the day were 33.
The State declared nine COVID deaths on Saturday, of which one death had occurred within the last 24 hours, while eight deaths which had occurred in the last few days were also declared in the last 24 hours.
The State also added 65 pending COVID deaths to the official list of COVID fatalities. These are deaths which have now been accepted as COVID deaths by the government as per the new guidelines of the Centre and following the appeals filed by families.
In all, the official cumulative COVID-19 case fatality rose to 68,066. The State’s cumulative COVID-19 burden now stands at 65,33,432 cases.
Among districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of new cases with 69 cases, Thiruvananthapuram 48, Kottayam 43, Thrissur 32, Kollam 30, Kozhikode 20, Pathanamthitta 18, Idukki 16, Alappuzha 14, Malappuram 13, Kannur 9, Palakkad 7, Wayanad 7 and Kasaragod 5.
