Is There A Dress Code For The Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix?
If you have a GA or grand stand ticket, the good news is there’s no dress code and you’re free to wear whatever you’d like.
If you’re in the fancy hospitality suite, there are a few ground rules. First, men are encouraged to wear a collared shirt such as a regular button-up or a polo. According to the official dress code, “dress pants or chinos are encouraged”, but it’s acceptable to wear jeans as long as they’re not ripped. If it’s a hot day and you’re opting for shorts, they must be dress shorts.
If you want to wear heels, the F1 says go right ahead, but be mindful “you will be required to walk long distances across the grass and bare ground to gain access to your hospitality suite”. Skirts and dresses are acceptable as long as they meet the smart casual standard.
And of course, team merchandise is encouraged!

Team Merch
It wouldn’t be a day at the F1 without rocking your favourite team’s merch. You can go all out in head-to-toe team gear, or be selective with the garments you choose to represent your team.
Pro tip: If you don’t wanna fork out an arm and a leg on the 2026 merch, the F1 store sells the previous year’s merch at a more affordable price!

If being loud and proud with your F1 team’s merch isn’t quite your speed, the next no-brainer when it comes to Formula 1 outfits is leaning into the sporty chic aesthetic. Think baggy jeans paired with a cute top and sneakers or boots that can withstand hours of walking. It’s also a good idea to bring a jacket along with you if you plan on staying for all the entertainment post race.

Summer Dresses

Step-Friendly Shoes
Unless you’re planning on staying put in your hospitality suite or the paddock, expect to do a LOT of walking around Albert Park. The F1 track is approximately 5.3 kilometres long, and it takes a lottt of steps to get from one side of the lake to the other. Comfortable shoes are key. Think cushiony sandals, sneakers, and moto boots that’ll complete your outfit — without giving you blisters.

Sun Safe Accessories
You’ll be wandering around in the sun all day long, so it’s smart to have some sun safe accessories on hand. You can lean into supporting your favourite Formula 1 team by rocking a cap. Pair it with some sleek sunglasses, and you’ve got yourself the perfect ‘celeb’s day off’ outfit.
