3 new Apple TV movies and shows to watch in December 2025

Apple TV (formerly Apple TV+) is ending the year with a lighter slate of new releases than usual. That’s likely because one of 2025’s biggest new movies is finally racing onto the service, but there are still a couple of feel-good holiday watches to look forward to as well.

If you're feeling shortchanged after snapping up the rare Apple TV Cyber Monday deal, don't. There are plenty of hit series still dropping new episodes throughout the month, including from the action-thriller The Last Frontier, the sitcom Loot season 3, spy drama Down Cemetery Road, glitzy comedy-drama Palm Royale season 2 and, of course, Vince Gilligan's sci-fi mystery Pluribus – who else is counting down to the finale on December 26?

With four series all wrapping up this month (only Palm Royale will run into January), there's plenty to keep you busy over the Christmas period, alongside the three new movies and shows below. Scroll down to see which ones deserve a spot on your watchlist.

The First Snow of Fraggle Rock

Director: Jon Rosenbaum
Run time: 34 minutes
Arriving on: December 5

After the grownups have finished streaming last month’s festive flick, The Family Plan 2, it’s time for the little ones to take over the remote with a Christmas musical special that’s guaranteed to get them singing and dancing.

Thanks to a deal with The Jim Henson Company, Apple TV has become the home of the beloved Fraggles, and it’s bringing them back once again for a new live-action special following 2022’s hit reboot Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock.

This time, the whole gang is waiting on Gobo to write a song so they can head out for a sleigh ride. The only problem? There’s no snow. To get things back on track, Gobo travels to the human world (or as they call it ‘Outer Space’) in search of that all-important musical spark.

F1 The Movie

Director: Joseph Kosinski
Run time: 145 minutes
Arriving on: December 12

I've been waiting for the chance to rewatch F1 The Movie ever since I saw it in the IMAX in June, and while I know my home theater system won't be able to replicate the chest-rattling rumble of a fully kitted-out cinema, I've no doubt the action will still be a spectacle.

This comeback story sees Brad Pitt play Sonny Hayes, a down-on-his-luck veteran driver who has a second chance at championship glory when he's hired to mentor a young talented rookie called Joshua Pearce for the fictional racing team APXGP.

From seeing Idris enduring what he called the "craziest spin of my life" to Sony’s custom camera capturing those hyper-realistic in-car shots, the movie is one of the most authentic portrayals of the sport yet. It pushes realism to full throttle, using every trick in the book to immerse you in the cockpit.

Born to Be Wild

Narrator: Hugh Bonneville
Run time: ~30-45 minute episodes
Arriving on: December 19

A docuseries about baby animals is hardly a tough sell, but if you want a clearer idea of the premise and, crucially, which adorable creatures you’ll get to watch in Born To Be Wild, here’s a quick preview:

The six-part series spans three continents and features breathtaking footage captured over several years, following the life cycles of endangered species as dedicated conservationists work to rehabilitate and rewild them.

Expect to meet an elephant calf, two baby cheetahs, a ring-tailed lemur pup, a moon bear cub, Iberian lynx kittens, and rescued African penguins on your screens in the week before Christmas.
