3 men booked for duping people on pretext of govt jobs in Almora

ALMORA: A woman employee of Almora-based Kasturba Gandhi Residential School, her son, and another worker of the school have been booked for allegedly duping people of more than Rs 25 lakh on the pretext of getting them a government job.

The case was filed based on a complaint made by Bhawan Singh, who works as a tailor in the district's Sunadi village. He was allegedly promised that his son would be given a job at the secretariat. So far, six people have come forward with similar complaints against the three accused. Some among them even took loans to pay the "bribe" for a government job. The accused have been running their racket for a year now, as per complainants. Pradeep Kumar Rai, SSP Almora, said, “We have launched an investigation. The accused will soon be taken into police custody.”
