3 Indians arrested in Surrey for extortion shooting after Canada city mayor's call for 'emergency'

Another extortion-related shooting took place in Surrey Sunday leading to the arrest of three Indian men, including one 19-year-old, amid Surrey mayor Brenda Locke's appeal to the federal government to declare a national state of emergency in Surrey over the rampant extortion incidents. Surrey police officers responded to a shooting incident on Sunday and arrested Harjot Singh, 21, Taranveer Singh, 19, and Dayajeet Singh Billing, 21.

All of them have been charged with one count of discharging a firearm into a place. No one was injured in the shooting, but police say a home near Crescent Road and 132 Street was damaged and firefighters had to extinguish a small fire by a fence on the property.
