3 free agents Chicago Bulls could target to mentor Patrick Williams

The Chicago Bulls have some tough choices to make this summer. And since Arturas Karnisovas has stated his desire to keep the current core together, but if that’s his plan, then he will need to improve the team around them. Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic are a solid group, but if they want a shot at consistently making the playoffs, they need help.

One of the most important members of the supporting cast is Patrick Williams. His defense and improving three-point shot are crucial. But at just 21 years old, he still has plenty of room to grow and improve.

So, as the Bulls are scoping out potential targets in free agency, they should consider signing players who could help mentor Williams. Here’s a list of three forwards who could do just that.

Chicago Bulls free agency targets to mentor Patrick Williams: Jae Crowder

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Jae Crowder sat out most of last season while waiting to get traded by the Phoenix Suns. When he was finally dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks, he had a decent role in the regular season but barely played in the postseason. However, his veteran presence, defense, and on-court leadership could be a huge help to Williams.

Chicago Bulls free agency targets to mentor Patrick Williams: Joe Ingles

Joe Ingles seems to be still capable of providing decent rotational minutes, but at 35 years old, that could cease at any point. Regardless, his mindset and hard-nosed play would be a great influence on Williams.

Chicago Bulls free agency targets to mentor Patrick Williams: Jeff Green

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Green is currently in the NBA Finals with Denver Nuggets, so they will likely look to bring him back. Or, Green may look to sign with another title contender. However, if the Bulls could convince him to join the team, his veteran experience and leadership off the bench could be a huge help for Williams.
