3 best new to Prime Video shows to binge-watch this weekend (March 6-8)

If you're on the hunt for some new Prime Video streaming recommendations, allow me to step in. I've already looked through everything new on Prime Video in March and highlighted the three shows you'll want on your radar if you're planning to binge-watch a new show this weekend.

Chief among these recommendations is the streaming service's new release of the week, British mystery thriller "Young Sherlock," which has rocketed straight to the top spot in Prime's streaming charts in the days since its release on March 4. You can find a little more info about "Young Sherlock" and my other new to Prime Video streaming recommendations below.

'56 Days'

"56 Days" premiered in mid-February, andthis "riveting, sexy, psychological thriller" (as Prime Video pitches it) has endured as one of the streamer's most compulsive binge-watches since.

It revolves around Oliver Kennedy (Avan Jogia) and Ciara Wyse (Dove Cameron), who form an intense relationship after a chance encounter. 56 days after the lovers' first met, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver's apartment to find an unidentified, brutally murdered, and intentionally decomposed body, prompting some major questions. Across it's run, "56 Days" reveals those answers by cutting between an intense single day in the investigation and the twisted trajectory of the lovers' past affair, delivering an "extremely bingeable" series, per TG's "56 Days" review.

'Cross'

There's just a couple of weeks to go before "Cross" season 2 comes to an end, meaning now's as good a time as any to get caught up. It's continued to occupy a spot high in Prime Video's top 10 as new episodes have dropped over the last few weeks, and seeing as TG's own Malcolm McMillan said the show was "even more twisty and brutal than ever" in his "Cross" season 2 review, you'll likely be hooked if you do decide to dive in.

If you're yet to check the show out, "Cross" is a crime thriller based on James Patterson's Alex Cross novels, and sees Aldis Hodge stepping into the titular role of forensic psychologist and detective. Season 2 (which will conclude in just a couple of weeks) sees Cross pursuing a ruthless vigilante who is hunting down corrupt billionaire business magnates, and if you're looking to be drawn into another dark case, this could be the series for you.

'Young Sherlock'

Prime Video's latest must-watch series is "Young Sherlock," another take on the world's greatest detective from British director Guy Ritchie. As the title suggests, this series takes us back to before he was a household name and charts Sherlock Holmes' origins.

We meet the young Sherlock Holmes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) at Oxford, where he finds himself embroiled in a murder investigation after crossing paths with James Moriarty (Dónal Finn). As he puts his skills to the test, unpicking that mystery, Holmes unearths a far-reaching conspiracy that takes him on a globe-trotting adventure. And with all eight episodes available now, you don't even have to wait to see how Holmes' first big mystery plays out; you can binge-watch it all this weekend.
