There are few television forms as beloved as the telenovela. Filled with romantic melodrama, heartstring-tugging tragedy and gritty crime stories, these Spanish-language soap operas have been a hugely popular global phenomenon for the better part of the last century, and that's been especially true in this current streaming age.
Netflix, arguably the biggest streaming service out there, is home to many Mexican telenovelas, including the recently released "My Father's Daughter," a Roberto Stopello-created family drama centered on a medical crisis that upends the realities of two families.
