Filled with romantic melodrama, heartstring-tugging tragedy and gritty crime stories, these Spanish-language soap operas have been a hugely popular global phenomenon for the better part of the last century, and that's been especially true in this current streaming age.
Netflix, arguably the biggest streaming service out there, is home to many Mexican telenovelas, including the recently released "My Father's Daughter," a Roberto Stopello-created family drama centered on a medical crisis that upends the realities of two families.

'Between Father and Son'
Given that it's told across 20 extremely short chapters (we're talking about 7 to 10 minutes each micro episode), you'll positively speed through "Between Father and Son," a fast-paced, guilty-pleasure Mexican drama following defense lawyer Bárbara (Pamela Almanza), who is happily engaged to her fiancé Álvaro (Erick Elías). That is, until she visits his family's estate with him and meets her future stepson Íker (Graco Sendel), to whom she feels an intense and irresistible attraction.
Things get even more heated when Bárbara discovers that Álvaro's first wife, believed to be tragically deceased, has actually been missing for the past six years. The woman's disappearance pulls Bárbara into a dark mystery that has her questioning exactly what kind of family she's marrying into. 'Unbreakable Sins'
This twisted 2025 telenovela from Leticia López Margalli — who also created Netflix’s "Oscuro deseo" — stars Zuria Vega ("The Five Juanas", "Thursday’s Widow") as Helena Rivas, a woman trapped in a loveless marriage to her abusive husband, Claudio (Erik Hayser). She sees a hopeful way out, however, when she begins a passionate affair with a younger man, a high-class escort named Iván (Andrés Baida).
Soon, the unlikely couple conspires to free Helena and her teenage son from Claudio's dangerous grasp. However, their plan goes awry, leaving behind a bloody aftermath where Helena's husband is missing, her lover is on the run, and her young son is discovered at the scene of the crime

'Rosario Tijeras'
Created by Adriana Pelusi and Carlos Quintanilla, this Mexican crime drama originally ran on Azteca 7 before Netflix picked it up for its fourth and fifth seasons, the latter of which was just released in June 2026. Bárbara de Regil leads the cast as the titular character, a young student who grew up with abuse and poverty in one of Mexico City's most dangerous neighborhoods, who changes the course of her life when she enters a life of crime and seeks revenge on all who hurt her.
As she gets pulled further and further into a world of hitmen, gangs and local cartels, Rosario Tijeras also must navigate a complicated love triangle with two rich young men, Antonio Bethancourt (José María de Tavira) and Emilio Echegaray (Antonio Gaona).
