Shoppers who use certain Sainsbury's and Tesco stores have been issued a £279 bill warning. Many people don't know that shopping in specific supermarkets could mean paying extra for their shopping yearly.
Consumer watchdog Which? released a new checklist which shows households spent £10.20 more each week at a Sainsbury's Local rather than a Sainsbury's supermarket. This could add up to a shocking £322 over one year. In comparison groceries from a Tesco Express could cost on average £279 more over 12 months.
The report analysed the average price of 48 items at the two convenience chains in February 2021. The research highlights a series of cost-cutting measures for shoppers amid a cost of living crisis. It comes as researchers at Kantar warned the average food bill could rise by £271 this year.
