2024 NFL Draft Quarterback top 5 rankings 1.0

The quarterback draft classes continue to to be the most important group of players in the whole draft process and have seemingly getting better and better with each passing year.

This crop of signal callers may be the most talented group we have seen in quite some time with as many as five quarterbacks potentially hearing their names called in day one of the draft. Let’s take a look at the top five players of that group before we get to pre-draft process.

1. Caleb Williams, QB, USC

There is little surprise that the nations best quarterback over the last two seasons lands at the top of the list, ad it’s unlikely that he will be budged from the top position during the draft process.

Caleb Williams is an electric playmaker with a live arm that can make plays anywhere on the field. Williams is NFL ready and is one of the highest rated prospects to come out of the draft in nearly a decade.

2. Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina

Drake Maye had a bit of a down year when it came to wins and overall statistics this season, but he still portrayed all the things NFL teams want out of a first round quarterback.

With a top tier arm and high level athleticism Maye has all the tools to be developed into a great NFL quarterback. There is some accuracy issues that need to be worked on, but Maye’s toolbox is hard to ignore.

3. Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

The Heisman winner is the most explosive quarterback in this class and showed some immense growth as a player and quarterback this season. Jayden Daniels could end up pushing for the second quarterback slot.

With the best running ability in this class, top level deep ball accuracy, and the ability to make plays across the field, Daniels is going to be talked about as a top five pick as the draft process creeps closer.

4. Bo Nix, QB, Oregon

Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

There is something to be said about a college player with starting experience, and Bo Nix has that in spades. With more starts than any quarterback in NCAA history Nix has established himself as NFL ready.

Given his growth over the past few seasons, his ability to read the field, and a propensity to make plays, Nix may surprise a few people by hearing his name called on day one of the draft.

5. J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan

Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

This National Champion quarterback stands to gain the most out of everybody in the pre-draft process. J.J. McCarthy wasn’t asked to do a ton as a passer in the Michigan offense but proved he can be a top level playmaker when asked.

If McCarthy can go through the motions and show off his impressive athletic skills and quick arm, he may shoot up the standings and hear his name called in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
