Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York, is in the spotlight this week as the game’s best players are in town for the 2023 PGA Championship.
The PGA has delivered dramatic finishes for several years running, including Justin Thomas’ playoff win over Will Zalatoris at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma, last year. It was Thomas’ second major win and second Wanamaker Trophy.
Scottie Scheffler, fresh off a top-five finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson, is the betting favorite at +700 followed closely by world No. 1 Jon Rahm (+750).
Here are five prop bets and position plays for the 2023 PGA Championship, starting with Max Homa to finish inside the top 20.

Max Homa: Top-20 finish (+165)
Homa’s lone top-20 finish in a major came at the PGA Championship last year in Tulsa. He’s due for another successful major weekend. Homa’s coming off a T-8 performance at the Wells Fargo.
Gary Woodland: Top-40 finish (+110)
Woodland has two top-15 finishes in his last five PGA Tour starts and has top 40s in four of his last five trips to the PGA Championship.
Xander Schauffele or Dustin Johnson to win (11/1)
Johnson just won LIV Golf Tulsa and Schauffele has finished T-5, T-10, 4th, T-4 and 2nd in his last five starts. Two hot players at 11/1? Yes, please.
Sahith Theegala: Top debutant (+600)
After tying for 34th at the 2022 Open – his first major since 2017 – Theegala finished solo ninth at the Masters in April. His game is good enough to translate to the biggest stages in the sport.
Winning margin: Two shots (+350)
Before last year’s playoff, the ’21, ’20, ’19, ’18 and ’17 PGA Championships were won by two strokes. Let’s hope the trend gets back on track in 2023.
