The Seahawks sent eight front office personnel to Ohio State’s pro day yesterday, including Pete Carroll and John Schneider. While there were several interesting prospects to watch, the star of the show was the best natural thrower in the 2023 NFL draft class, quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Last night the team Twitter account shared a selfie from Stroud with all of the Seattle folks in the background.

While it’s nice to think about Stroud backing up Geno Smith, right now it seems like a long shot that he will still be on the board at No. 5 overall. According to the oddsmakers, Stroud is the heavy favorite to be picked first by the Panthers.
It is interesting that the team went out of their way to share this. However, fans should take this with a large portion of salt. If you remember, last year everyone and their mother fell for the idea that the Seahawks were madly in love with Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder, only to watch them pass on him and every other quarterback prospect in the class.
Either way, there’s nothing wrong with due diligence.
Today the Seahawks will be doing more of that as they’ve sent Schneider and Carroll to Tuscaloosa for Alabama’s pro day. The main attraction there is former Heisman winning quarterback Bryce Young, who’s equally unlikely to still be available.
