After the year’s final men’s major championship, the PGA Tour is back stateside for the 2023 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.
Tony Finau, who has missed the cut in two straight starts including last week’s Open, enters as the defending champion. He beat Emiliano Grillo and Sungjae Im by three shots last season.
Justin Thomas has fallen to 24th in the Official World Golf Ranking and 75th in the FedEx Cup Standings. In a last-second push to make the playoffs — and to make Ryder Cup Captain Zach Johnson’s job easier for Rome — Thomas is making his 3M Open debut. In his last six starts, Thomas has missed four cuts, tied for 60th at the Genesis Scottish Open and for ninth at the Travelers Championship. The top 70 players in the point standings make it to the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis (Aug. 10-13).

J.T. Poston (45/1)
Since missing back-to-back cuts at the U.S. Open and Travelers Championship, Poston has found his game. He tied for sixth at the John Deere Classic and Scottish Open before a T-41 finish at the Open.
In 2021, Poston tied for 28th at the 3M Open. A year later, he grabbed a T-11 finish.
Alex Noren (75/1)
Before heading over the pond, Noren tied for ninth at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Although he missed the cut at the Scottish Open, Noren had a good week at Royal Liverpool, tying for 23rd.
In one appearance at TPC Twin Cities, Noren finished T-3.
The Swede is still looking for his first win on the PGA Tour and if it were to come this week, he’d have a strong argument to present Luke Donald for a spot in Rome. Noren is currently 18th on the European Points list and 13th on the World Points list.
Cameron Davis (30/1)
Before missing the cut at the Scottish Open, Davis tied for 33rd at the Travelers Championship and for 17th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Although he missed the weekend at his TPC Twin Cities debut, Davis has since finished 12th (2020), 28th (2021) and 16th (2022) at the 3M Open.
The 56th-ranked golfer in the world is currently 77th in the FedEx Cup Standings, meaning a good week in Minnesota is necessary if he wants a spot in the playoffs.
Lucas Glover (45/1)
Something has clicked for Glover over his last five starts. After tying for 20th at the RBC Canadian Open, the 43-year-old missed the cut at the Travelers Championship but bounced back in a big way.
He’s rattled off three straight top-10 finishes: T-4 (Rocket Mortgage Classic), T-6 (John Deere Classic) and 5th (Barbasol Championship).
Although he’s missed the weekend in his last two trips to TPC Twin Cities, Glover grabbed seventh in 2019.
