2022 Preakness: Here’s how much you would have made with a $1 superfecta bet

This year’s Preakness Stakes lost a bit of luster as Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike’s team chose not to participate and forfeit a chance at the triple crown.

Still, the 147th Preakness from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore was no less exciting as Early Voting (5-1) emerged victorious after an impressive push down the stretch.

The horse entered the derby with the third-best odds, so the superfecta betting payouts for this one won’t be as grandiose as what we saw at the Derby, but anyone with the foresight to successfully place a superfecta bet on the race is still enjoying a hefty payday.

For the uninitiated, to win a superfecta bet you must not only correctly predict the first-place finisher but the second, third and fourth-place finishers as well. In this case, that meant betting on Epicenter (7-5), Creative Minister (10-1) and Secret Oath (9-2) to fill those spots.

If you successfully pulled that off and bet just $1, you would net $162.90. You can imagine that anyone who bet a little more than a buck is celebrating tonight.

All eyes will now be on the Belmont Stakes on June 11, when Rich Strike and Early Voting will go head-to-head.
