The Saudi-led Arab coalition announced on Monday that it had destroyed an armed drone, fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen, against King Abdullah Airport in Jazan.
The debris from the drone fell around the airport, injuring 16 civilians from various nationalities, it added.
Three travelers are in critical condition.
The coalition revealed that the drone was launched from Sanaa International Airport with the purpose to carry out attacks against civilians.
Earlier, the coalition carried out an operation in Sanaa in response to the Houthis' firing of another drone that also targeted Jazan.
No one was injured in that attack.
The coalition vowed to neutralize the Houthis' sophisticated capabilities in order to protect civilians.
