Authorities in San Diego conducted an undercover human trafficking sting at the popular Comic-Con International event, resulting in the arrest of 14 individuals and the rescue of 10 victims, including a 16-year-old girl. The operation was part of a joint investigation by the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force, which included the FBI, DOJ, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the arrests, emphasizing the focus on recovering victims of sex trafficking and targeting sex buyers who exploit large-scale events like Comic-Con for their criminal activities. The operation took place over a three-day period during the annual convention that draws over 100,000 fans to San Diego.
