“I was amazed at how efficient the staff were. They had a system going which needed them to work perfectly as a team. The queues soon disappeared and I have to say I have been in many pubs in my life including over 100 Wetherspoons and I have NEVER seen a more well organised team of staff (including the people clearing the tables).

One recent review said: “What can i say. It's you normal Wetherspoons. Busy at all times of the day. It's a bustling place with all types of people. from your hardcore daily rum guzzlers, to ladies having a spot of lunch.

“To me interviewing someone, that didn't bother turning up - that's another story. I had Chicken pasta, exactly as i expected, hot, a little dry but a filling meal. My colleague had jacket potato - again hot and cheesy. Service was quick and friendly. Would I eat here again? Very likely.”

Another added: “Saturday afternoon and ready for food with friends, called into this busy Wetherspoons pub for good value drinks and food. We managed to get a table for 5 luckily as was full with people trying to find anywhere to sit.

“Food pretty modest really with not the best in terms of quality, taste and appearance but I wouldn't be expecting much anyway so it very much fulfilled its need at the time”.

“Got a seat and ordered some food which was brought to me quickly and hot!! Delivered with such nicety once again from one of the girls serving who couldn't do enough for me, another girl came over and was lovely as well asking me how I was.

The Queen’s Picture House

Rating: Three and a half stars

Food: Three stars

Service: Three and a half stars

Value: Three and a half stars

Where: 47-79 South Road Waterloo, Liverpool, L22 5PE

What people are saying

A recent reviewer said: “Good Breakfast. Came with my husband for breakfast. We both had full English with hot drinks and used the app to order from our table.

“The staff were pleasant and our order came quickly. The thing with Wetherspoons is you know what you're going to get and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts. The restaurant, bar and facilities were all clean and well kept.

“The only small criticism I would have is that to get the milk for for tea and coffee we had to walk to the other side of the restaurant with our hot drinks. If you have been here you will know how big it is so it seemed silly to have just one milk/sugar station in the bar area on the other side to where people tend to sit for food. I would still recommend this Wetherspoons and would come again.”

A second wrote: “We decided to come here for brunch after our first night in Liverpool. The food was okay and is very good value for money. The place was packed but it was not very clean. Did not see many people wiping down tables after people had left and I had to ask them to do ours.”

Childwall Fiveways Hotel

Rating: Three stars

Food: Three stars

Service: Three stars

Value: Three and a half stars

Where: 179 Queens Drive, Liverpool, L15 6XS

What people are saying

One reviewer said: “Frequent visitor. This is a pub I frequent a lot particularly recently. They seem to have a lot of regular staff and others who just do one night a week.

“On the whole I have always found them very courteous so am surprised by some of the reviews but agree that tables could be cleaned on a more regular basis without having to ask.

“The COVID separation of tables is very good and I feel safe in this establishment. The food is not cordon bleu but I have only had 2 poor meals in a very large number of visits.

“The value for money is second to none especially for drinks and this is a pub whose ambience I enjoy. I very rarely write reviews but feel that this pub deserves a better rating than it currently enjoys.”
