Cadbury has today announced the return of its Secret Santa postal service, where chocolate fans across the nation can send a bar of Cadbury chocolate to someone special this Christmas, completely for free.
Cadbury is making Secret Santa more inclusive and accessible than ever, allowing 120,000 people nationwide to send chocolate secretly, replacing its physical pop ups with a virtual postal service, accessed via posters across the country.
To send a bar, chocolate fans will need to keep an eye out for one of the posters, which will be popping up across the country in over 200 locations from November 14 until December 24. Those who scan a QR code will be taken through to an interactive digital experience, where they will be guided through the service by Jeff, the Cadbury postie, who will help them select a bar for their chosen recipient.
Bars will be released every day to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to become a Secret Santa.
A selection of Cadbury chocolate bars will be available to gift, including Cadbury Dairy Milk and a host of flavours including Winter Wonderland, Oreo, Caramel, Wholenut, Fruit & Nut, Mini Snowballs and Vegan Plant bar. Cadbury bars and a selection of gifts can also be purchased via Cadbury Gifts Direct and gifted anonymously this festive season.
The postal service is supported by the brand’s Christmas advert, which this year stars a warm and cheeky postie named Jeff. In the film, viewers are introduced to the possibility of sending an anonymous bar of chocolate for free, through posters popping up across the country from station platforms to the seaside.
Emma Paxton, Senior Brand Manager said: “Our much-loved Secret Santa ritual is back, and this year, it’s bigger than ever before. At Cadbury, we’re all about encouraging generosity – we believe there’s a bar and a half in everyone – so this year we wanted to make Secret Santa more accessible than ever and to spread that generosity across the nation.
"That’s why from today, you’ll see our postal service popping up on posters across the country, giving 120,000 people the opportunity to send chocolate secretly to a loved one this season. We hope that our campaign encourages the nation to get into the Christmas spirit and become a Secret Santa, helped of course by our wonderful postie Jeff.”
Cadbury is also partnering with The Trussell Trust for the third year running this Christmas to help make Christmas special for everyone. Across the season they will be donating 75,000 bars of chocolate to over 200 food banks in the Trussell Trust network. The brand will also be making a financial donation to support the Trust’s longer-term mission of fighting hunger in the UK.
