There are many cats in Merseyside currently up for adoption.
Rescue charities across the region are looking for households willing to open their homes and their hearts to a new pet. Rescue centres have previously spoken out about "kitten season" and a rise in unwanted cats and kittens due to unneutered pets.
Already, charities are finding themselves "inundated" with demand. From abandoned pets that were saved by the public to strays found on the streets, here, we have put together a list of 12 cats that are up for adoption in Merseyside, and where to find them - from the RSPCA to Freshfields in Sefton.

Taking on a pet is a big commitment but can be extremely rewarding so please ensure you have thought through all aspects. But if you have been thinking of taking in a new pet, rehoming a stray or abandoned cat could be the perfect answer.
At Freshfields Animal Rescue you will find:
Ragdoll Dave
Dave loves getting affection and attention and is an 11-year-old grey and white cat who was brought to Freshfields cattery as his previous owner became allergic and couldn’t look after him any longer. When Dave first arrived at the rescue, he was a little "spicy" and not sure about his new environment.

Leo and Zeta
Leo and Zeta are a "stunning bonded pair" who came to Freshfields from a very unfortunate hoarding situation, where volunteers retrieved 12 cats from a flat. Their other fellow felines have all already found their forever homes but Zeta, six, and Leo, three, are still looking for their new home.

Dave
Dave is a two-year-old boy who was found straying in St Helens. He adores his food and will follow you around but can often be a bit boisterous and needs a good play session to keep him entertained. More can be found here: https://www.freshfields.org.uk/animals/dave-2/
Bella
Bella has become a long-term member of the Liverpool Cattery family, having been at the rescue for three years. She is 11 and was unable to move with her previous owners.
She has been diagnosed as being diabetic, that is now under control, and requires insulin injections twice daily. She has lived with other cats, but it would be best for Bella to have a loving home all to herself due to having to closely monitor what and when she eats.

Munchkin
Munchkin loves food and loves people. She has a condition called Feline Coronavirus, which is not related to Covid 19 and is perfectly manageable with diet. Munchkin is living a normal, happy active life.
Brooke
Brooke has been at the rescue for two years and is three. She does not like being stroked but loves the company of other cats. Brooke was brought in by the charity's feral street cat programme, she had four kittens that went and was rehomed from rescue me.

Nigel
Nigel, a former stray, is described as a "huge cat" weighing in at 6.2kg, but is a five-year-old boy. He has tested positive for FIV which means he will need to be an indoor only cat. He will need a quiet experienced owner who will allow him to come around in his own time as he is said to need "someone to make him smile again."
Mary
Mary is a two-year-old crossbreed who is looking for a quiet home with not too much going on. She is a tad nervous and can live with another cat, but a dog would be "too much for this shy girl".
Fezco and Nate
Nate and Fezco were two of three cats brought to the RSPCA in a dog crate after allegedly being found abandoned. The third cat Rue has since given birth to kittens so is not available for rehoming until she has weaned her kittens and been spayed.
Nate and Fezco are both quieter boys who are looking for a quieter home where they can relax and get to know their new owner without worrying.
Bucky
Bucky is an eight-year-old male who had been a long-term stray. He was found in an RSPCA cat trap. He is looking for an adult only household with no other pets so he can relax after the crazy outside life he has had for so long.
