110 electric buses to connect Jewar airport; UP CM reviews expressway, industrial projects

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed officials to ensure the availability of 110 electric buses in the first phase for connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar and strengthen public transport arrangements before flight operations begin.

Chairing the fourth meeting of the State Transformation Commission, the chief minister reviewed the progress of the operation of 500 electric buses in Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region, according to an official statement issued here.

He directed the officials to complete preparations for public transport before the proposed commencement of flight operations from the airport by June 15.

The chief minister also stressed the rapid expansion of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in the state.

Officials informed the meeting that around 15.5 lakh electric vehicles are currently registered in Uttar Pradesh and the government has set a target of establishing 10,000 charging stations by 2030. Around 2,500 charging stations are already operational, the statement said.

Reviewing expressway projects, Adityanath said improved connectivity would boost industrial development, investment and employment generation. He directed officials to expedite land acquisition and exchange-related work for key projects.

According to the statement, around 55 per cent land acquisition has been completed for the Farrukhabad Link Expressway project.

The chief minister directed the officials to complete land acquisition for the Agra-Lucknow-Purvanchal Link Expressway, Jewar Link Expressway and Jhansi Link Expressway by the end of June.

Officials also informed the meeting that the alignment for the Meerut-Haridwar Expressway has been approved and an action plan for land acquisition is being prepared.

Adityanath said unnecessary delays in investment-related projects would not be accepted and directed officials to ensure the timely disposal of pending matters and maintain regular communication with investors.

The meeting was informed that possession of 301 hectares out of 323 hectares required for the Multi-Modal Logistic Hub project had been obtained. The last date for tender submission for the selection of a developer has been extended to July 6, according to the statement.

For the Multi-Modal Transport Hub project, 144 hectares out of the required 200 hectares have been made available, while acquisition of the remaining land is underway, officials said.

The chief minister also reviewed the proposed Seed Park and Textile Park projects in Lucknow and directed officials to expedite them by linking them with the state's agricultural and industrial development plans.

According to the statement, discussions have been held with international organisations and seed companies regarding the Seed Park project.

Reviewing the Defence Corridor projects, Adityanath directed the officials to extend necessary support to investors to establish UP as a leading state in defence manufacturing.

The officials informed the meeting that Icons Hindustan Aerospace and Defence Systems Private Limited has proposed an investment of Rs 125 crore in the Aligarh Defence Node. The proposal has been recommended by the technical evaluation and land allotment committees, the statement said.

The chief minister also reviewed the proposed agriculture export hub near the Jewar International Airport and the Aqua Bridge project in Unnao.

The officials informed the meeting that 29 acres of land have been identified so far for the agriculture export hub against the requirement of 50 acres. For the Aqua Bridge project in Unnao, 60 acres have been identified for the development of fish processing, feed plant, packaging and export-related facilities.

Adityanath also reviewed the Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Scheme and projects proposed under the Urban Challenge Fund, stressing the need for modern urban infrastructure in view of rapid urbanisation, according to the statement.

He directed that projects included under the "CM Review" mechanism be given top priority and said a special cell would be set up in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) for regular monitoring of these projects, it added.
