On Saturday, the Chicago Bulls defeated the Utah Jazz, 126-118, to earn their third-straight win.
In the matchup with Utah, Chicago took on former Bull Lauri Markkanen, who is playing the best basketball of his career in his first season with the Jazz, which Zach LaVine recognized after the win.
“I’m just extremely happy for Lauri,” LaVine said. “The type of player that he is and he’s become, how aggressive he is out there. He’s 100 percent an All-Star in my book, he’s getting my vote.”
So far this season, Markkanen is averaging a career-high 24.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game on career-high shooting from the field at 52.9 percent and from 3-point range at 41.5 percent.
In the loss to his former team, Markkanen finished with 28 points, which included a poster slam over Nikola Vucevic.
“Those dunks,” LaVine said, “I had to tell him in the first half to calm down a little bit. That didn’t help anything.”
Though it didn’t work out in Chicago for Markkanen, he’s found a home in Utah.
