100 mm rain lashes Mumbai overnight

MUMBAI: The first triple-digit rainfall of the month was recorded in the city on Tuesday. In the 24 hours ending at 8.30am on Tuesday, the rainfall recorded was 124mm. Of this, more than 100mm was recorded in the six hours between 2.30am and 8.30am.

A day before, on Monday, when a red alert was issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rainfall recorded in the 12 hours from 8.30am to 8.30pm by the Santacruz observatory was only about 22.6mm.
