10 hardest-working Premier League stars as Harry Kane and Declan Rice rack up insane stats

Only seven players covered more distance than Harry Kane during the most recent Premier League campaign, according to new stats.

The 29-year-old forward enjoyed another superb season for Tottenham. Kane scored 30 Premier League goals - second only to Erling Haaland's record-breaking tally of 36 for champions Manchester City - and became his club's and England's record scorer.

Kane is out of contract in a year's time, with the likes of Manchester United interested in signing him. It's easy to see why the England captain is in demand by looking at the 10 players who covered the most distance during the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

That list is topped by Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse, who covered 433.4km. Like Kane, the 28-year-old midfielder could also be on the move after the Saints suffered relegation to the Championship. Ward-Prowse is surely too good for that level.

The data has been compiled by talkSPORT, with Kane covering 394.8km of ground in the Premier League this term just gone. Second on the list is impressive Brighton star Pascal Gross (418.9km), who is capable of playing in midfield, on the wing or at full-back.

In third place is Declan Rice (412.9km). West Ham have confirmed their captain will be allowed to leave this summer, with a £100million move to Arsenal being mooted. Mikel Arteta will need Rice's dynamism with Granit Xhaka heading to Bayer Leverkusen.

The underrated Alex Iwobi played in all 38 of Everton 's Premier League games this season and helped them survive. He covered an impressive 405.8km. Everton survived at Leicester's expense, with Foxes defender Timothy Castagne covering 404.4km.

Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag was furious with his players' work rate after their humbling 4-0 loss at Brentford in August. His vice-captain Bruno Fernandes responded by covering 402.5km, more than Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard (396.4km).

The final two players to make the top 10 are Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma (387.2km) and Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier (376.7km). Not a single Man City player made the list, which is probably because Pep Guardiola's side usually have the ball.

Kane's exemplary attitude is no secret. Speaking in April 2022, former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte said: "We are talking about a talented player. Many times players with great talent do not want to work hard... He was an example from the first day I arrived here.

"You can think this is normal, but it is not normal. It is a big example to his team-mates and you see his desire to be competitive."

Tottenham are determined to keep hold of Kane, despite his reluctance to sign a new contract. It's believed Spurs chief Daniel Levy does not want to sell to a Premier League rival, but he will risk losing Kane on a free transfer if he refuses to sell him this summer.
