IO Interactive offered robust post-launch support for Hitman's World of Assassination trilogy, and it seems that's not changing for 007 First Light. The devs have just revealed a post-launch roadmap, which includes a new story mission featuring the return of Lenny Kravitz as Bawma.
Bawma is the centerpiece of the brief teaser trailer below, but it unfortunately doesn't give us much insight into what the new mission will entail. Still, it might explain why IO shelled out to get Kravitz in the game when his role was so limited in the main story.
Bawma's story mission is part of the "year one content" for 007 First Light, which also includes "new challenges and upgrades," a path tracing update, a Nintendo Switch 2 port, a new gadget in the form of G2 glasses, and a new game plus mode.
This sort of thing will seem pretty familiar to fans of Hitman, which featured extensive post-launch support, much of it released for free. While First Light is somewhat less sandbox-focused than Hitman, it certainly offers plenty of room for new gameplay toys.
The question, of course, is how long that support will last, and what comes after. We've gotten contradictory messages about the future of James Bond at IO Interactive, but given the critical and commercial success of 007 First Light, it would make a lot of sense for the developer to continue building on that buzz. But beyond what's happening in this first year of updates, the rest will have to remain a mystery for now.
