The filing deadline for candidates running for Congress in Michigan this year was April 19, 2022. Fifty-three candidates are running for Michigan’s 13 U.S. House districts, including 28 Democrats and 25 Republicans. That’s 4.08 candidates per district, a decade-high, and up from the 3.93 in 2020 and 3.64 in 2018.

Sean Casten defeated Marie Newman and Charles Hughes in the Democratic primary for Illinois’ 6th Congressional District on June 28, 2022. Casten and Newman are members of the U.S. House of Representatives running for re-election in the same district due to redistricting.

Incumbent Kathy Hochul defeated Tom Suozzi and Jumaane Williams in the Democratic primary for governor of New York on June 28, 2022. U.S. Rep. Mary Miller defeated Rep. Rodney Davis in the Republican primary for Illinois’ 15th Congressional District on June 28, 2022. With 91% of precincts reporting, Miller had received 57.2% of the vote to Davis’ 42.8%.
