The planned phased withdrawal of the Army from certain areas of the Jammu region has been shelved “indefinitely” in view of terror attacks being orchestrated from across the border, officials said in Srinagar.

In September, India will host the 2023 Group of 20 (G20) summit in the capital, New Delhi. Events and meetings are already taking place in other venues around the country. Ahead of a G20 meeting in Srinagar, security has been tightened in Jammu region, particularly in border districts and more than 10 Army schools have been closed as part of precautionary measures.
