Ald. Roderick Sawyer’s father, Eugene Sawyer, was mayor in the late 1980s. Roderick Sawyer chairs the City Council’s Committee on Health and Human Relations and is a former chair of the council’s Black Caucus. He’s the fifth candidate seeking to deny Mayor Lori Lightfoot a second term.
