As officials gathered in Utah this week for the Republican National Committee's winter meeting, party leaders left no doubt that the GOP is choosing to serve former President Donald Trump and his political interests before the next presidential election

Republican National Committee members passed a resolution on Friday to formally censure GOP Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois over their work on a House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, in an unprecedented rebuke of sitting members of Congress.

The Republican National Committee voted to censure U.S. Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for serving on the House committee investigating the insurrection at the Capitol last year, saying the panel is “persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.”

With an official censure for Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, the senator from Utah should stop tweeting and call the RNC chair ... his niece.

The vote serves as a reaffirmation of the party’s fealty to former President Trump.
