Repeated shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine has raised the possibility of a grave accident just 500 km (300 miles) from the site of the world's worst nuclear accident, the 1986 Chornobyl disaster.

The head of Russia's state-run nuclear energy agency, Rosatom, said on Monday it had discussed Sunday's shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant with the United Nations nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
