SAN JOSE, Calif. — Former UFC fighter Cain Velasquez has formally pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, assault and weapons charges alleging that in February he chased then shot at a man accused of molesting his young son, and ended up wounding the man’s stepfather.

Paul Bender is the man Cain Velasquez allegedly shot and the defendant in a civil lawsuit pertaining to an alleged molestation of a child.

The plea hearing for Cain Velasquez, former UFC champ, was continued yet again, as he faces attempted murder and other charges.

The attorney for Paul Bender confirmed to MMA Junkie that a Cain Velasquez supporter threw a molotov cocktail toward his client's home.

Judge Shelyna Brown reiterated her view that Cain Velasquez is not only a threat to Harry Goularte and his family – but also the community at large.

The "Free Cain" support has been strong, but Velasquez remains behind bars. Attorney Mark Geragos hopes that changes Monday.
