Dundee-based hospitality boss Phil Donaldson laid off workers at the Abandon Ship Glasgow and London bars on Monday, less than two weeks after telling them their jobs were safe.

Workers at the Glasgow and London bars were told they were being made redundant with immediate effect by email.

Macmerry, which operates more than a dozen theme bars across Glasgow, Dundee and London, is the subject of a winding up petition that was filed at Dundee Sheriff Court on May 27.
