Northern Territory coroner Elisabeth Armitage has dismissed Zach Rolfe's request to recuse herself from the inquest into the death of Kumanjayi Walker.

Zachary Rolfe is seeking to have Northern Territory Coroner Elisabeth Armitage recuse herself from the inquiry into Rolfe’s 2019 killing of Kumanjayi Walker.

The Assistant Police Commissioner tells the coronial inquest into the death of Mr Walker that evidence from the perjury investigation into Constable Zachary Rolfe over an allegation that the officer "lied" to a court should have been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for decision.

Assistant Commissioner Bruce Porter told the coroner that two arrests made by Constable Zachary Rolfe, which were deemed appropriate by his superiors, would have likely been deemed "excessive" upon further review.
