Armed with calculators and clipboards, zookeepers entered every enclosure this week to fulfil a licensing requirement by tallying up every mammal, bird, reptile and invertebrate

London Zoo's annual census tracks 10,000+ animals, aiding global breeding programs. Notable births in 2024 include gorillas, lions, penguins, and frogs.

Amongst the 400 species counted were Humboldt penguins, Asiatic lions and western lowland gorillas.
