Jackson vows to serve without ‘fear or favour’

WASHINGTON — Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Joe Biden’s historic nominee to the Supreme Court, promised Monday that if confirmed to the Supreme Court, she would "defend the Constitution and the grand experiment of American democracy that has endured over these past 246 years."

"I have dedicated my career to ensuring that the words ... 'Equal justice under law' are a reality and not just an ideal."

Comes at the end of a long first day filled with Republicans airing grievances about her record.

Washington (AFP) - US Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson vowed Monday to defend the "grand experiment of American democracy" as she launched a historic bid to be the first Black woman on the nation's highest judicial bench. 

Confirmation hearings for Ketanji Brown Jackson, nominated to be the first Black female justice on the Supreme Court, began on March 21, 2022. The dayslong process will see President Joe Biden’s pick for the bench grilled by members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
