Kentucky’s Secretary of State has won a second four-year term. The Commonwealth’s top election officer pointed to that responsibility as the key to winning re-election.

Democrats held on to the 93rd district state house seat formerly held by Lamin Swann of Lexington, who died in May. Adrielle Camuel beat Republican Kyle Whalen – who lost to Swann last year -- to fill the remainder of Swann’s term.

Help is on the way for state and local firefighters battling more than 60 blazes, most of them in southeastern Kentucky. Tuesday, Steve Kull, with the state Division of Forestry, said the blazes are in Pike, Harlan, Knox, Owsley and other counties in the region.
