The grain sector of the commodities market continued to move lower in Q4 2024 and was the worst-performing sector in 2024. While all grain and oilseed markets posted losses in 2024, corn was the only futures market moving to the upside in Q4.

After reaching a record high in 2022, nearby CBOT wheat futures prices plunged and remain well below $6 per bushel in November 2024. The bearish price action during the 2024 crop year means we may have to wait until 2025 for any price recovery.
