JPMorgan Chase is taking over First Republic after the troubled bank was placed in the FDIC's receivership in the latest failure in the banking system.

US regional bank First Republic had a little more than $301 billion worth of assets and around 7,000 employees.

The once high-flying bank has seen shareholders flee as concern mounts that the FDIC may have to step in.

“Ms. Javice faces numerous impending deadlines for which she is incurring substantial expense,” said Michael Barlow, an attorney with law firm Abrams & Bayliss, in a recent letter to the judge.

Javice rushed to pull her funds out of Signature Bank after it was taken over by the FDIC in March.
