The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully carried out another orbit reduction manoeuvre of India’s third moon mission Chandrayaan-3.

Named Aditya-L1, it is the first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun.

ISRO's Chandrayaan 3 mission launched on July 21 to slingshot to the moon and decelerate before descending. Given the harsh conditions of space, the mission has been designed with advanced engineering techniques, including radiation-hardened electronics, to protect the spacecraft from the solar wind, outgassing, radiation, and other issues.

Russia’s space agency Roscosmos, which launched the Luna-25 on Friday, has said that its landing on the moon would not impede India’s Chandrayaan-3, which was launched on July 14, 2023, as the two missions had different landing areas and there was enough space on the Moon for everyone.

ISRO posted on its X social media platform: “Chandrayaan-3 Mission: Earth viewed by Lander Imager (LI) Camera on the day of the launch, Moon imaged by Lander Horizontal Velocity Camera (LHVC) a day after the Lunar Orbit Insertion.”

In the run-up to the Chandrayaan-3’s lander’s soft landing on the moon’s surface on August 23, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has carried out an assessment of the current space situation around the moon.
