The Department of Homeland Security has launched a new panel to tackle disinformation

WASHINGTON — The Department of Homeland Security may not begin phasing out its use of pandemic-related asylum restrictions before their planned end next month, a federal judge ordered Wednesday.

The department suffers “a dangerous combination of broad authorities, weak safeguards, and insufficient oversight.”

The Supreme Court hears an immigration case that threatens to curb the power of presidents to reverse the policies of their predecessors.

The requirement, which applies to non US citizens and residents, was first put in place in November of last year.
