More immigrants from Cuba are coming to the U.S. by making their way to Mexico and crossing the border illegally

The United States is considering resuming migration accords with Cuba at a time tens of thousands of people are leaving the island to come to the U.S., Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said Wednesday.

Biden administration officials will meet a Cuban delegation Thursday in Washington, D.C., to discuss a dramatic increase in migration from the island, a source with knowledge of the matter told the Miami Herald.

Cuban authorities say migration talks with the United States will take place this week, the first in four years since the hardening of relations between both countries and amid a sustained increase in arrivals of Cuban citizens at the southern border of the U.S. Cuba’s Foreign Ministry said on Twitter…

MIAMI — Three separate groups of Cuban migrants arrived in the Florida Keys within about 24 hours, the U.S. Border Patrol said.

American and Cuban officials are due to meet in Washington on Thursday to discuss migration concerns, people familiar with the matter said, in the highest-level formal U.S. talks with Havana since President Joe Biden took office last year.
